Things Farther from the Camera Appear Smaller
It’s late, and I didn’t think I’d get anything typed up today, but it’s worth the effort.
Appearances keep changing. Martial law essentially went into effect here in Maine at 12:01 yesterday morning, but here in my house, where I’ve long spent most of my days and nights, things look pretty much the same: the kitchen counter is crowded with food and dishes and mail and drinks. A pile of books still sits next to the red couch. Andi is lying on the floor in the family room, looking as cute as she always does. On Instagram, the people I follow generally seem content to go on with their lives as if nothing significant has changed. On Twitter, it’s a different story, and I thank God for that.
On Twitter, people are sharing videos of empty hospitals and ghost-town COVID-19 testing sites. They are questioning news stories that report any and every death as being caused by Coronavirus. They are asking, “Who has the most to gain by turning the world as we know it upside down?”
If you need me, I’ll be on Twitter.
